Apple just keeps on moving forward and making moves. News coming out of China reports that Apple is in talks with China Unicom the second biggest wireless carrier in China. Apple was originally in talks with China Mobile the biggest wireless carrier in China and may still be negotiating.

China Unicom sports 130 million wireless customers and will be 3G ready on May 17th which will allow customers to use Apple Iphones off the shelf. The 3G service based on the WCDMA (Wideband Code Division Multiple Access) protocol — the one Apple employs. This is an advantage over China Mobile which uses a different technology.

The Iphone that will be sold in China will most likely be stripped of Wifi access as it is not legal in China on cellphones.
