Teal OS: A Glimpse of the Pre

We all know that the Palm Pre is a pretty gorgeous device that blew the whole tech community away during its introduction not primarily by its hardware but rather with its new flashy and intuitive webOS. The problem here though is that it is still to be launched and has an exclusivity deal with Sprint. Of course, price is a factor too since the Pre won’t come cheap. Also, owners of Palm Garnet OS (like me) still love their device even it has been thrown with words like “old school”, and worse, “prehistoric”.

The solution here is the new TealOS by TealPoint software. It is a whole new launcher that brings a somewhat webOS experience to your, quoting from TealPoint software, “time honored device”. It has the features of the webOS like the multiple cards layout, translucent applications screen, customizable background image, and the cool wave launcher. Aside from the flashy webOS like launcher, it has its own grid launcher too which can switch categories by just swiping left and right. It even closes applications by flicking a card up just like the real thing.

From the video included, it really looks like a neat application launcher. I can’t help but think if my device will get slow or underperform by using this new flashy launcher which just defeats the reason why I still keep my Treo680 - fast and functional.

I still have to try this new launcher (I know current Palm OS users will too) and will post my experience with this new launcher from TealPoint Software.
