IPad officially my favorite gadget
Having used the Ipad for over a month now I can officially say it is now my favorite gadget. Since I received a unit I have barely turned on a computer for browsing or email. Some applications worth downloading: Etrade for Ipad, Bloomberg, Thompson Reuters Market Board and News Pro, Ny Times Editor Edition, USA [...]
Learn MoreTealOS Review Part 1
I have been using Zlauncher as the default launcher for my Palm Treo 680. The reason is that Zlauncher is very efficient and powerful too. It has a lot of customizations and options that I like such as icons and skins. I have seen a lot of launchers but they never have persuaded me to even try one as I deem Zlauncher the best already.
The introduction of the TealOS from TealPoint software was something different. It aims give current users of the Palm OS the improvements present in webOS. So here are my observations as of the moment.
One - Performance
The main reason for me sticking with my Treo 680 after using an HTC Touch and a Samsung i600 is its fast response. When I click the messaging button, messaging comes up. When I press the contacts button, my contacts show up with little or no lag at all. But after installing TealOS, I expect some sort of lag but it did better. I was expecting long waits due to transparents, cards interface and the like but to my surprise, there is just an addition of a second or less.
Two - Cards Interface
The card based interface really amazed me. It has been replicated quite nicely which I really Like. All of the applications that have been opened appear on the card s interface when the home button is pressed. The difference though is that thumbnails show the last image on the screen instead of the live action on the Pre. Also, the thumbnails in the card interface doesn’t really look that nice as the image are a bit distorted though they are still considerable. Other than those, the card interface really performs smooth like the swiping of cards from left and right, flicking the card up to close an application and the translucent effect.
For now, those two are the most noticeable things that I have seen. The Part 2 will complete the review on the TealOS.
